Rosa Marie Cender, 94, of Goshen passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born July 4, 1931 in Arthur, Illinois to Emory and Cora (Yoder) Beachey.
On July 28, 1956, she married Eldon Cender at Arthur Mennonite Church, Arthur, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Cender was a beloved third grade elementary school teacher in Gibson City, IL and a dedicated member of East Bend Mennonite Church in Fisher, IL.
In her free time, she found joy in the quiet pursuits of reading, gardening, and quilting. After retirement, Rosa remained committed to service, participating in a mission trip to Argentina and a Service Opportunities for Older Persons (SOOP) term in Florida. She also enjoyed traveling extensively to places like Alaska, Texas, and Europe.
In 2002, Rosa moved to Indiana to be closer to family where she became an active member of North Goshen Mennonite Church.
Rosa is survived by a daughter, Leanna (Brent) Kaser, and a son, Norman (Karen) Cender both of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Monica (Kyler) Kearby of Warsaw, Deanna (Arturo “Artie”) Martinez-Cender of LaGrange, Georgia, and Abigail “Abbie” (Brian) Bravo of Michigan City; four great-grandchildren, Paxton, Olivia and Claire Kearby and Isabela “Isa” Martinez-Cender; and a brother, Emory (Judy) Beachey, Jr. of Arthur, Illinois.
Along with her parents and her husband, Eldon, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Mae Schrock, and two brothers, Dr. Edwin Beachey and Jacob E. Beachey.
Visitation will be Friday, October 3, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at North Goshen Mennonite Church, 501 N. 8th Street, Goshen, with a 30-minute visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
Burial will take place in East Bend Memorial Gardens, Fisher, Illinois at a later date.
Memorial donations may be give to the Alzheimer's Association.
