Ronald Wayne Telschow

Ronald Wayne Telschow of Nappanee, IN, passed away on March 7, 2025, following a long illness.

Ronald Wayne was born Dec. 23, 1935 in Churubusco, IN to Albert Henry Telschow and Wilma Caroline (McGuire) Telschow.

Ronald married Glenna Lou Hart on October 9, 1954 in Williamston, MI. The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Ron and Glenna went on to have 7 children. Gwen Elaine Telschow, Dawn Ilene (George) Bates of Lorida, FL, Cheri Lynn (Roger) Bontrager of Middlebury, IN, Ronda Leigh (Ronald) Lemler of Bourbon, IN, Michael Wayne (Heather) Telschow of Wakarusa, IN, Dana James (Amy) Telschow of Benton Harbor, MI, Ronald Wayne (Kelly) Telschow II of Nappanee, IN. They were blessed with 29 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild.

Ron was a life-long baker. Ron and Glenna bought the bakery in Nappanee, IN in 1965. They owned and operated Ron’s Bakery until 1979, and again in 1992 until 2002. In 1976, Ron created the original 7-foot apple pie for the first annual Nappanee Apple Festival, which he continued until his retirement. His tradition is still carried on each year for the festival.

Ron was active in Rotary Club where he served as president. He loved to fly and spent many hours piloting around the USA. He also served as commissioner for the Nappanee Municipal Airport. He was a born-again believer in Jesus Christ and a long-time member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Church, Middlebury, IN, where he served as Trustee. He was also active as a mentor in the Fellowship of Christian Athlete Organization.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, a brother, his daughter Gwen, his son Dana, granddaughters: Grace and Victoria Lemler, and son-in-law Roger Bontrager.

Services will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 12. There will be viewing from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., officiated by George Bates, followed by burial at Violett Cemetery.
