Ronald E. Nelson, 71, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, May 24, 2014, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was born February 12, 1943 in Sidney, Ohio to Donald Kenneth and Helen Loraine (Nelson) Scholl. He married Marsha Torrance in Goshen on February 9, 1962. She survives along with his mother; two sons, Fredrick (Sylvia Solis Tovar) Nelson, of Goshen and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and Scott (April) Nelson of Goshen; six grandchildren; three sisters, Debra (Phillip) Rohrer of Constantine, Michigan, and Alice (Stanley) Warble and Rosetta (Rick) Scholl-Haisfley, both of Goshen; and two brothers, Martin (Sandy) Scholl and Steven (Diane) Scholl, both of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his father; three sisters, Naomi Cole, Marjorie Ann Campos and Donna Mae Anthony; and two brothers, Harold and Kenny Scholl. A Goshen resident since the late 50's, Mr. Nelson worked for the Elkhart County Highway Department for 31 years. He also worked for Elkhart County Gravel and delivered for Dutch Maid Bakery. He was a member of Goshen Moose Lodge #836 for 37 years. Friends may call Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 2 to 4 and from 6 until the 7:30 Moose Service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, funeral service will be held at the funeral home with Pastor James Hochstetler, Family Worship Center, officiating. Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Moose Lodge #836.
