Ronald A. Chevalier, 72, of Goshen, died early Wednesday morning, March 31, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital. He had been ill since February 2. He was born in Irwin, Pennsylvania, on February 23, 1938, to Frank and Anna (Shellgren) Chevalier. He married Pauline Bainbridge on August 26, 1960 in the Brush Creek Lutheran Church, Irwin. She survives. Also surviving are daughter, Elise Lynn (Douglas) Wood of Wheaton, Illinois; son, Gregory Paul (Melinda) Chevalier of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren, Sean Gibson, Nathan, Brianna and Jonathan wood, and Megan, Gretchen, Noah and Joshua Chevalier; and two brothers, Robert (Louise) Chevalier of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Donald (Irma) Chevalier of Vermilion, Ohio. He was preceded in death by daughter, Beth Ann Chevalier Gibson in 1985; sister, Thelma Stanley; and two brothers, James and Charles Chevalier. Mr. Chevalier graduated from Irwin Public High School in 1956, attended Wooster College, Wooster, Ohio, and graduated in 1960 from University of Pittsburgh. His whole career was in the automotive industry starting with Lincoln Mercury Division of Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, Michigan. He then worked as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Starcraft and then for Advantage Enterprises, followed by national sales manager for Hummer at AM General, retiring in May 2008 from Accubuilt, Lima, Ohio. In October 2008 he started working part time at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. He was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, Goshen, where he had served as church treasurer, on the church council, as a member of the finance committee and sang in the choir. He was presently serving on the Goshen Public Library Board. Friends may call 1-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 2, at the funeral home and one hour prior the service at the church on Saturday. An 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at First English Lutheran Church, Goshen. Pastor Gene Hollingsworth will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be given to First English Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society or Goshen Public Library.
