Roman E Hershberger, 97, of Goshen died at 7:45 p.m. on July 5, 2021 at home.
He was born May 1, 1924, in Canton, Ohio, to Levi and Susie (Herschberger) Hershberger.
He married Florence O. Zehr on June 24, 1950, at Manson, Iowa.
Mr. Hershberger is survived by his wife, Florence, and by his children: Ruth Kliewer of Plainfield, Illinois; Judith (Greg) Leigh of Elkhart, Indiana; Craig Hershberger of Goshen, Indiana; and Lori (Steve) Blair of Vandalia, Michigan. Also surviving are four grandchildren, one step grandson, two great grandsons, and two great granddaughters, and his brother Floyd Hershberger of Tucson, Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers Jency Hershberger, Clarence Hershberger, Eli Hershberger, Roy Hershberger, Lee Hershberger, sister Martha Winslow, and daughter-in-law Shelley Hershberger.
Mr. Hershberger was employed at various schools both as a teacher and as a psychologist. He served in the latter capacity at the Elkhart (Indiana) Community Schools. He also served as a minister at First Evangelical Mennonite Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was a member of NEA, ISTA and the local Retired Teachers Association.
Friends may call Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m., at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen, where he was a member.
Burial at Yellow Creek Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In his wife’s honor, memorial gifts may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
