Romaine E. Weaver Martin, 104, of Goshen, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 24, 2013 at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. She was born June 22, 1909 in Goshen to Charles E. and Fannie (Cripe) Brumbaugh. On February 15, 1936 she married Harley C. Weaver in Goshen. He died October 22, 1980. She married Raymond Martin May 6, 1995 in Nappanee. He died December 7, 2001. She is survived by a daughter, Frances (Ray) Landis, of Goshen; a step-daughter, Betty (Don) Fervida, and step-son, Dennis (Sherry) Martin, both of Nappanee; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 18 step-great grandchildren; and seven step-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Brumbaugh in 1940. A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Martin was a 1928 graduate of Goshen High School, and member at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church. She worked at the Chase Bag Company during the depression, and also had a retail stand at the Elkhart Farmer's Market from 1940 through the mid-1980's. Romaine and her first husband Harley were long time dairy farmers south of Wakarusa. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, 63846 CR 35, Goshen. A private graveside service will be held prior to the 11 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, memorial service at the church. Reverends Terry Diener and Matt Yoder will officiate. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, for library audio books, which Romaine loved to use when she could no longer read.
