Roberta J. Pittman, 83, formerly of Syracuse, died Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2012, at Prairie Lake South Campus, Noblesville, where she had been living since July 2010. She was born in Goshen May 1, 1928, to the late Everett Elmo and Marjorie Helen (Pease) Niccum. She married Dean L. Pittman October 11, 1946, in Montezuma, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2010. She is survived by three daughters, Sally (Wayne) Kirby of Kodak, Tennessee, Diane (Jeff Vadasz) Schmidt of Los Altos, California, and Marjorie Russell of Westfield; two grandsons, Kenneth (Jenna) Kirby, Jr. and Gage Russell; two sisters-in-law, June Niccum of Columbia City and Norma Ganger of Goshen; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Douglas Pittman in September 1980; a sister-in-law, Annabelle Culbert; and a brother, Warren Niccum. A member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Syracuse, Mrs. Pittman graduated from Goshen High School in 1946. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Andrews United Methodist Church 1:30 pm Saturday, February 18, 2012. Pastors Mike Neff and Mark Eastway will officiate. Following cremation, a private burial will be at Syracuse Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Syracuse, or Goshen General Hospital and Healthcare Foundation.
