Robert Craig Wheeler, Sr., 89, of Oviedo, Floridapassed away peacefully Thursday, October 7th, 2021 in Oviedo.
Bob was born April 9, 1932 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Russell Hubbell Wheeler and Margaret Denton Craig.
He was married to his now deceased wife, Helen Hay Wheeler August 22, 1959 in Goshen, Helen’s hometown.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Wheeler Martin of Traverse City, Michigan; sons, Craig (Lori Lockwood) Wheeler of Oviedo, Florida and George (Carol Massey) Wheeler of Harmony, Florida; five adored grandsons; Rob, Andrew, Jacob, Christopher and Matthew Ryan; brother-in-law Stephen (Phyllis Dean) Hay of Tucson, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hay and Barbara Hay, both of Goshen, Indiana; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Russel H. (Stephanie) Wheeler, Columbia Lake, Connecticut and brothers-in-law, George W. Hay III and John C. Hay.
Bob graduated from Sarasota High School in 1950, attended the University of Miami and was a Korean War Veteran. He had life long employment as an Insurance Adjuster and moved his family from Miami, Florida in 1971 to their newly built home on Lake Charm in Oviedo, Florida where he taught his three children to canoe, fish, and adventure through Central Florida and Black Hammock living the Central Florida life.
In accordance with his wishes, a graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Violett Cemetery, Goshen. His ashes will be buried next to the love of his life, his wife, Helen. Rev. Tim Yoder will officiate.
