Robert W. Lau

Robert W. Lau, 76, of Lake Alfred, Florida, died Monday afternoon, January 16, 2006, at Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Florida.   He was born October 24, 1929, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Walter J. and Martha (Marutz) Lau.  On November 5, 1955, he married Barbara A. Johnson in Elkhart, Indiana.  She survives.   A 1948 Elkhart High School graduate, he retired from Miles Laboratories in Elkhart.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War.   He was a member of the Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Haines City, Florida and a lifetime member of both the V.F.W. and the D.A.V., and a the South Bend Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed golf.   He is survived by his wife, Barbara; four sons, Robert D. (Pat) Lau of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Brian D. (Joan, Bradley D. Lau and Bruce A. Lau, all of Elkhart; six grandchildren and a brother, James M. Lau of Elkhart.   Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 20, at the funeral home.   A 10:00 a.m. service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Rev. Steven Reshan of Augustana Lutheran Church – ELCA, Elkhart will officiate.   Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.   Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
