Robert A. Stahly, 66, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, March 24, 2009, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Goshen on November 9, 1942 to Donald and Mildred (Miller) Smith.  He married Esther Keim on September 14, 1961 at the Grace Brethren Church in Elkhart.  She survives. A lifetime resident of the area, Mr. Stahly worked as a press operator at John Controls.  He was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen.  He attended Goshen High School and earned his GED while serving in the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Esther; three daughters, Debbra (Curt) Haberstich and Shari (Troy) Hochstedler, both of Goshen and Christine (Jim) Klein of Middlebury; six grandchildren, Camron, Dylan, Sarah, Lexie, Melissa and Anthony; two brothers, Warren (Bonnie) Stahly of Seymour, Tennessee, and Charles (Donna) Stahly of Elkhart; and a brother-in-law, Charles Davis of Roanoke, Indiana. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Stahly and two sisters, Donlyn David and Dee Lora Glassman. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 27, at the funeral home. A 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2009, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp.  Rev. Ron Diener of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens’ Hospital or Loveway.
