Robert Jonas Peachey, 77, of Millersburg, died Saturday, August 10, 2013, at his home. He was born March 1, 1936, in Belleville, Pennsylvania, to Jesse and Dorothy (King) Peachey. On October 7, 1961 he married Violet Harshberger. She survives along with a daughter, Pam (Steve) Vail, of Millersburg; two grandsons, Brock and Brett Vail; a great-granddaughter Sophia; two sisters, Sara (Allen) Lind, of Salem, Oregon, and Elaine (Olen) Swartz, of Au Gres, Michigan; and a brother, Marvin (Avonelle) Peachey, of Belleville, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rodney Peachey in 1996; and a sister, June Schuler in 1998. Robert served two years in Mennonite Voluntary Service. He was a long time area resident, who worked at Shasta Trailer, and Troyer Poultry, before owning and operating Harshberger Insulation. Along with being a business owner he had his own small farm for many years. He later lived at Westler Lake near Wolcottville, and worked for C.M.I. (Hayes Lemmerz). After his son Rodney's death he moved to Millersburg to be near his daughter Pam's family. In his retirement years he enjoyed walking, fishing, visiting with neighbors, and was "Grandpa Bob" to many. A special joy was visiting family and friends in central Pennsylvania, where his roots were. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, where Robert was a member. Pastors Ron Diener and Tyler Hartford, and Deacon Norman Maust will officiate. Burial will follow at Miller 8 Square Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.
