Robert W. Olsen

Robert W. Olsen, 79, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Mishawaka after a six-week illness.

He was born August 5, 1943 in Goshen to Edward J. and Sarah E. (Watkins) Olsen.

On November 28, 1997 he married Sara Ann Woodhouse in Milford.  She died March 15, 2010.

Survivors include a son, Ronald (Candy) Olsen of Delavan, Wisconsin; three daughters, Ronda (Joe) Skozen of Iron River, Michigan, Robin Neeson of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Bobbie (Mark) Ray of Goshen; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two sisters, Jean Johnston of Goshen and Nancy (Frank) Spradlin.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Olsen; and his children’s mother, Carol “Elaine” Stilwell.

A 1962 graduate of New Paris High School, he served in Montana and Alaska from 1964 to 1967 with the US Air Force.

Bob retired from the Elkhart County Highway Department in 2001.  Between 2014 and 2019, he cooked meals at the Salvation Army twice a week.

Visitation will be Friday, March 17, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  A 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, funeral service will be held at the funeral home.  Pastor Dave Bunyan, Community Church of Waterford, will officiate.

Burial, with military honors, will follow at Violett Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to the Goshen Salvation Army for the JOY Fund.
