Robert Lee Nettrouer, Sr., 84, of Goshen, passed away Wednesday, December 28, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born January 29, 1938 in Portland to Clarence A. and Helen G. (Weyant) Nettrouer.
On December 25, 1957 he married Ida Hershberger. She died April 14, 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Collins of Goshen; four sons, Robert (Sherry) Nettrouer, Jr., Michael Nettrouer, and Steven (Amanda) Nettrouer, all of Goshen and Larry (Karen) Hershberger of Elkhart; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda (Duane) Zoerhof of Zealand, Michigan and two brothers, Richard (Carolyn) Nettrouer of Wolcottville and Jerry (Evelyn) Nettrouer of New Paris.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Stephanie Nettrouer and Lori Cripe; two brothers, Thomas and James Nettrouer and a grandson, Brandon Cripe.
Mr. Nettrouer served in the Indiana National Guard and was the head of Civil Defense in Goshen for more than 25 years. During his 28-year tenure with Wheelabrator Corporation, he served as Union Steward of the UAW. He was a fan of Notre Dame football; Minnesota Vikings football and Indiana University basketball.
Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, January 3, from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Godfrey will officiate.
The family requests Notre Dame attire be worn for the funeral service.
Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Goshen DAV #15.
