Robert S. Kinney

May 9, 1964 — January 3, 2012

Robert S. Kinney, 47, of Goshen, went to heaven on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital after a 20 month battle with lung and bone cancer. He was born May 9, 1964 in Goshen to Don Kinney, Milford and Frances "Pat" Kinney, Goshen. He married Martha Kelly March 4, 2000 in Beckley, West Virginia. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Robert K. Kinney of Goshen; two brothers, Don Kinney of Warsaw and Kevin (Janet) Kinney of Leesburg; two sisters, Cindy (Doug) Scott of Nappanee and Cathy (Mike) Hawkins of Milford; two aunts, Sheila Hardy of Bremen and Beverly Rollins of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. Robert worked at Niblock Excavating, Bristol for the last nine years as a heavy equipment mechanic. He also worked for Beer & Slabaugh, Nappanee for 20 years. He loved spending time with his family and his two Jack Russells, Snoopy and Lucy; and riding his Harley. The day after a chemo treatment he would be out on his Harley doing a benefit ride for other cancer patients. Always wanting to help others, Bobby donated his corneas to the eye bank and his body to IU Medical School. Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Beulah Missionary Church, CR 18 and Old CR 17, where an 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service will be held. Pastor Bill Richardson will officiate. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or to Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
