Robert L. Jones

Robert L. Jones, 72, of Syracuse, died Tuesday evening, September 22, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital.  He had been ill since March. He was born May 6, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Harold and Ruth (Doerr) Jones.  He married Margaret Young in Pennsylvania in 1959.  She preceded him in death in 1988. A graduate and fan of Penn State University, he retired in 2001as plant manager of Behlen Corporation, formerly of Goshen.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Goshen Elks, Maxwellton Golf Course, and St. Martin's DePorres, Syracuse.  He was an avid golfer. He is survived by a daughter, Kathie (Leo) Kenworthy of Syracuse; two sons, Robert C. Jones of Odenton, Maryland, and Tim (Virginia) Jones of New Paris; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Paula (Jack) Keebler of McMurray, Pennsylvania; and two brothers, Richard (Nancy) Jones of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Charles (Betty) Jones of Alliance, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife; and a grandchild, David Kenworthy. Friends may call 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2009 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m.  Father Richard of St. Martin's DePorres will officiate. Burial will be in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
