Robert “Bob” K. Garber, 95, of Bristol, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Heritage Point, Mishawaka.
He was born June 16, 1922 in Goshen to Earl and Bertha (Kauffman) Garber.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Olene (Gardner) Garber; five children, Terry (Pam) Garber of Bristol, Steve (Linda) Garber of Middlebury, Jerry (Jeanne) Garber of Vandalia, Michigan, Sheryl (Bruce) Kooker of Apple Creek, Ohio and Wanda (Dean) Weirich of Middlebury; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a brother, Marion, (Florence) Garber of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Sheldon Garber; two brothers, Maurice and Lamar Garber and two sisters, Donnabelle Hoover and Betty Betzelberger.
A lifetime area farmer, Bob was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church. He was known for his firm handshake and generous spirit. He helped build or remodel his children’s homes and while volunteering at Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas, he helped build six campus buildings.
He enjoyed traveling and fishing in Canada.
Friends may call Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, funeral service at Pleasant View Mennonite Church. Pastors Tyler Hartford and Ron Diener and Deacon Norm Maust will officiate.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Contributions may be given to Pleasant View Mennonite Church or Goshen Home Care and Hospice or Great Lakes Hospice.
