Robert “Bob” C. Kreager, 91, of Goshen passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Goshen Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1925 in Elkhart County to Tony and Fern (Moser) Kreager.
On January 24, 1948 he married Mary Helen Smith in Cromwell. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1998 prior to her death in 2000. After retirement they spent numerous years living at Klinger Lake, White Pigeon, Michigan in the summer and Sebring, Florida in the winter.
Mr. Kreager is survived by two daughters, Connie (Will) Troyer of Elkhart and Beverly (Dean) Warstler of Syracuse; three sons, Robert (Staci) Kreager of Evansville and twins, Dennis (Penny) Kreager of Columbia City and Daniel (Kathy) Kreager of Goshen; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Elijah of Ligonier.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Tapp and Josephine Wolf; and four brothers, Jacob, Jack, George and Howard Kreager.
Robert was a decorated World War II veteran having served as a heavy equipment operator on the front line of the 238th Engineer Combat Battalion which landed on Utah Beach on D Day and stayed until the surrender of the Germans and the liberation of the concentration camps.
Following his military service, he was employed by Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Goshen, for 48 years, retiring in 1991 as their Equipment Manager.
Bob was a member of the Jefferson Community Church and served as an usher and building property chairperson. He was also a member of the Goshen Moose Lodge; Mizpah Shriners, Fort Wayne; Masonic Lodge, Cromwell; and the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow.
Friends may call Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 1 to 5 pm at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and Monday, December 12, 2016 beginning at 9 a.m. prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service at Stones Hill Community Church, 151 W Stones Hill Rd., Ligonier. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Hunn of Jefferson Community Church.
Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
