Robert C. Brimer, 89, of Goshen passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at IU Health Goshen Hospital. He was born November 12, 1925 in Johnson City, Tennessee to Walter C. and Nellie (Wright) Brimer. On December 29, 1947 he married Gloria B. Leonard in Bristol, Tennessee. She survives along with two daughters, Reese (Bill) Hart of Jacksonville, Florida, and Carol (Fredric) Clemens of Goshen; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Willis of Troutdale, Virginia, and Judy Brimer of Pensacola, Florida; and a brother, Alvin (Nancy) Brimer of Silverton, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Margaret Whaley, Kathleen Farmer and Carolyn Hooley; and three brothers, David, Harold and Gene Brimer. A Goshen resident since 1955, Mr. Brimer was a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen. He served with the U.S. Marines for two years and then with the U.S. Army for 18 years, retiring in 1985. He then worked for the railroad for 22 years. Family and friends may call Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 2 until the 3 p.m. funeral service at First Baptist Church, Goshen. Rev. Louis Showers, Dr. Gregg Lanzen and Rev. Jim Shrock and will officiate. A private family burial will take place in Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Haven House, c/o First Baptist Church, Goshen.
