Robert J. "Bob" Mandell

Robert J. “Bob” Mandell, 70, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Genesis Hospital in Davenport, Iowa after a valiant fight against cancer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 20, 1937, to Alexander and Della (Civins) Mandell.  He married Nancy Blaho on April 4, 1964, in Chicago.  She survives. Mr. Mandell came to Goshen in 1975 and lived here for 30 years before moving to Davenport, Iowa in 2006.  He graduated from Harper High School in Chicago and served in the US Army 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper.  He retired from Eckrich Foods where he worked as a sales manager.  His greatest loves from his family, the outdoors and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Chris (Tracy) Mandell of Millersburg and Timothy Mandell of Davenport, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Hannah and Hailey Mandell and Andrea and Brittany Gingerich. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Richard Mandell. A 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2008, memorial service will be held at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Rev. Father Charles Herman of South Bend will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Team, 13208 East Shea Blvd., Suite 100,Scottsdale, AZ   85259.
