Goshen

Robert T. Althoff, 93, of Goshen, passed away Thursday, March 9, 20232, at Greencroft Healthcare.

He was born July 7, 1929 in Mercer County, Ohio, to Theodore Henry and Carrie Iola (Trittschuh) Althoff.

On June 3, 1956, he married the love of his life, Eleanor J. Wills, in Wapakoneta, Ohio.  She died April 12, 2021.

He is survived by two children, Melinda Sue (Dan) Sharp of New Paris and David (Kathy) Althoff of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Benjamin Althoff, Adrian Sharp and Audrey (Adam) Lung; and two great grandchildren, Clara and Ethan Lung.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Jane Slyh.

He attended Capital University and Wright State University.  He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Althoff and his wife moved to Goshen 2014 from Ohio.  While in Sidney, Ohio, he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 217 and past president of the Sidney Rotary Club.  He was also a Shriner and a Mason.

After his discharge from the Navy, he was a co-owner of Althoff Oil Company with his family.  He retired from Piqua Battery where he was an independent agent for J.B. Battery.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Goshen.  Pastor Andrew Wollman will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date in Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco, Ohio.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the Greencroft staff and Goshen Hospice for the love and care they provided for Robert.

Memorial donations may be given to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
