Rick A. Charles, 60, of Goshen, passed away June 21, 2020, with his loving fiancée, Darlene Powell, by his side after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born June 27, 1959 in South Bend to James and Lois (Mapes) Charles.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Ronald Charles.
Rick is survived by his father, James of Walworth, Wisconsin; sister, Susan (Randi) Stoneburner of Oak Harbor, Ohio; children, Joseph Charles of Goshen, Jason (Angel) Charles of Syracuse; Penny (Halstead) Stalnaker of Black Rock, Arkansas, Jason (Tina) Halstead of Etna Green, Aaron (Michelle) Halstead of Farmington, New Mexico, Nathan (Jen) Rodden of Noblesville; Crystal Butler of Milford and Ian Rodden of Goshen; 17 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was a 1977 graduate of Goshen High School; a veteran of the US Army with one year of service in South Korea; an avid fisherman; a grill master; an animal lover and was considered “mayor” of his neighborhood. Rick worked for more than 10 years at Supreme Corporation and believed family was everything.
Per his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no memorial service. A Celebration of Life service for family and friends will be Wednesday, June 24, at 5 p.m. at the New Dew Drop Inn, Goshen. Please bring your favorite dish, drink and memories.
