Richmond E. Gresso

Richmond E. Gresso, 69, of Union, MIchigan, died Friday evening, Sept. 26, 2014, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital after a brief illness. He was born June 22, 1945 in Goshen to Melvin E. and Verna J. (Stauffer) Gresso. On Oct. 1, 1966 he married Leatha D. Searfoss in Goshen. She died Sept. 16, 2008. Survivors include two children, Carrie Gresso Cline of Vandalia, Mich. and Edward (Tina) Gresso of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Lori and Chris Cline and Brandon and Matthew Gresso; and three siblings, William (Neva) Gresso of Dallas, Texas, Lynn (Roy) Hawkins of Elkhart and Jeri (Emil) Mitchell of Fort Knox, Ken. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three sisters, Gloria Marrow, Francis Sassaman and Sonna Oswalt. A machinist, he worked for Elkhart Machine and Tool and Atlas Tool and Die. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of National Rifle Association. He enjoyed working on cars and loved his grandchildren. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory and a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, at 1:00 p.m. at 506 Queen Street, Goshen. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
