Richard Lee Yoder, 69, of Goshen, won his battle with cancer and was promoted to glory, while surrounded by his family, Monday, November 13, 2017 at Goshen Hospital.
He was born February 1, 1948 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
On June 10, 1988 he married Esther M. Miller.
She survives along with seven children, Rochelle (Rusty) Elliott of Goshen, Rosina (Charlie) Heilman of Osceola, Rex (Judy) Foster pf Elkhart, Deanne (Michael) Ziegert of Osceola, Cheryl (Larry) Cloud of Jones, Michigan, Kimberly (Jim) Carney of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Shayne (Karen) Miller of Goshen; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joy Horton of Orlando, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Edna (Weldy) Yoder.
A lifelong area resident, Richard was a 1968 graduate of Bethany Christian High School. He worked as a truck driver and farmer. He owned and operated Estrich Trucking and Welding for 10 years and also worked for the Elkhart County Highway Department for nine years.
As a youth he attended Holdeman Mennonite Church. He has attended The Salvation Army since 1988 and recently became a soldier member. He enjoyed farming and loved time with family. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Mitzy.
Rich had a very deep love and affection for his Amish families.
Friends may call Friday, November 17, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. There will also be one hour of visitation Saturday, November 18, prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Salvation Army, 1013 N. Main St., Goshen. Majors Sally and Tim Sell will officiate.
According to his wishes, cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory after the service.
Memorial gifts may be given to The Salvation Army, Goshen.
