Richard M. Stump Jr., 82, of Goshen passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Goshen Hospital. Born on June 20, 1943, Richard is the son of the late Richard Sr. and Betty (Kurtz) Stump.
On April 29, 1978, Richard married his beloved wife, Nikki, and together they had one son, Alexander Stump.
Richard was a 1961 graduate of Goshen High School and a 1965 graduate of Goshen College, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. For the love of his country, Richard bravely served 2 tours in Vietnam with the United States Army as an SP5. For many years, Richard worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) as a highway worker.
Known for his wicked sense of humor, Richard always made others smile. Richard loved fishing, western tv shows, and the many pets he had throughout the years. His favorite restaurant was Hoppers, where he went to eat many times each week and he always looked forward to seeing his favorite waitresses. As someone who loved nature, Richard enjoyed recycling so much that he encouraged others to the best of his ability to do the same and would not allow the trees or bushes on his property to be trimmed as they were to grow and bloom the way nature meant for them to be. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed sitting out on his deck with his beloved wife, until the mosquitoes ran them inside. He also loved going to the South Bend Cubs games as much as he could.
