Richard Paul Saylor, 81, of Warsaw, and formerly of New Paris, died at Mason Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Warsaw, late Wednesday morning, August 1, 2007. He had been ill the past year. He was born July 15, 1926, in Goshen, to Arthur Franklin and Essie Marie (Adams) Saylor. He married Viola JoAnn Hower on October 21, 1948, in Lakeville, Indiana. She survives. Mr. Saylor, a 1944 graduate of New Paris High School, served in the US Army and retired from NIPSCO where he was a "storekeeper", he kept track of lines and poles. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Goshen, the Scottish Rite in South Bend and the American Legion in Warsaw. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; a son, Kirby Saylor of Warsaw; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremiah; a great-granddaughter, Kierston; two sisters, Audrey Whitlock of Syracuse and Sandra Sutton of Middlebury; and a brother, Don (Nancy) Saylor of New Paris. He was preceded in death by a son, Rickie Joe Saylor on March 10, 1970; and two brothers, Robert and Nelson Saylor. There will be a private family graveside service. Pastor Dennis L. Bollenbacher of New Beginnings Community Church, Atwood, will officiate. Burial will be in New Paris Cemetery, New Paris, Indiana. Memorial contribuitons may be made to St. Jude's or Donor's Choice
