Richard H. Rockwood, 83 of Goshen died early Saturday morning, August 14, 2010, at Courtyard Healthcare, where he had been for the past six years. He was born November 16, 1926 in Buffalo, New York to the late Carl and Julia (Eva) Rockwood. On June 26, 1948 in West Allis, Wisconsin, he married Dorothy Sponer. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Linda (Ransom) Pressler of Bristol, Laurie (Alan) Fix, of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Jennie (Jerry) Schoenauer of Middlebury; a son, Jon E. (Deb) Rockwood of Smyrna, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Moritz of New Prague, Minnesota, and Anne (Kenneth) Wade, Foosland, Illinois. A graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, he was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II on a submarine. He was a member of the Rossville Kiwanis Club and Rossville Businessmen in Indiana. Mr. Rockwood moved to Goshen in 1998 coming from Rossville, where he owned and operated Rockwood Manufacturing Mr. Rockwood was a member of the West Goshen Church of the Brethren, and was involved with the Gideon’s. Friends may call from 11 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 17 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, where a 1:00 p.m. funeral service will be conducted, with Pastor Norm Replogle officiating. Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to the Gideon’s.
