Richard Paul Barnes, Sr., 60, of Goshen, died Sunday morning, November 2, 2008, at his home. He was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, on March 31, 1948, to Charles R. and Myrtle (Atkinson) Barnes. He married Patty (Campbell) Helton on August 21, 1999 in Goshen. She survives. A Goshen resident since the 1980’s, Mr. Barnes was a driver for Kirt’s Dry Cleaners. He had also worked in the steel mills in Pennsylvania and as a welder. He served in the Marine Corp from 1965 to 1969 in Vietnam and was a lifetime member of the Goshen DAV #15. He is survived by his wife, Patty; a daughter, Carrie A. (Terry) Jones of Goshen; a son, Richard P. Barnes, Jr. of Goshen; a step-son, Jeremy W. Helton of Goshen; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mary E. Quinn of Elkhart, Shelba Hill of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Linda (Monte) Choate of Fontana, California; and a brother, Edward (Joyce) Barnes of Asheville, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Charles R. Barnes. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 6, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Tracy Buller of Life Spring Community Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
