Richard Myers

March 14, 1945 — April 15, 2013

Richard L. Myers, 68, of Goshen, died unexpectedly Monday evening, April 15, 2013, at his home of natural causes. He was born March 14, 1945, in Dekalb County, to Owen O. and Dorothy M. (Smith) Myers. He married Marilyn Moore August 15, 1964, in Elkhart. She survives along with two daughters, Tamara (Norberto "Tito") Colon of Elkhart, Michele (Harlan) Stoltzfus of Goshen; a son, Robert (Kara) Myers of Miramar, Florida; six grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Linda) Myers of Wakarusa; and a nephew, Eric (Tracey) Glant. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sharon K. Glant; and a granddaughter, Chelsea Colon. Mr. Myers retired in 2007 as head custodian at Oxbow Elementary School. He had previously retired from Interstate Brands after 24 years. He was an active member of Bristol Church of the Nazarene, serving as head usher, and Sunday school teacher. While growing up he enjoyed his years in the 4-H Club. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the 4 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Chad Finney, Bristol Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Cremation will take place with a private burial at a later date at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bristol Church of the Nazarene, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, or American Diabetes Association.
