Richard Ray Miller, 77, of Goshen, died peacefully on June 20, surrounded by loving family.
He was born May 24, 1947 in Goshen to Raymond and Edna Miller.
He married Kathy (Yoder) Miller on November 22, 1973 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She survives along with their three children, Eric (Angela) Miller, Wakarusa; Crandall (Jessie) Miller, New York; and Gretchen (Chris) Kingsley, Goshen; and six grandchildren, Owen, Emily, Isa, Bennett, Ethan, and Lula.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Miller.
Richard was a home builder and developer, serving in roles as the owner of Richard Miller Construction, the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County, among others. He was a member of the Home Builders Association, serving two terms as the president of the Elkhart County Chapter. He was recognized as the Builder of the Year for Elkhart County in 2012.
In addition to serving as a nonprofit leader, he served on several nonprofit boards throughout his career. Richard was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church.
Richard was passionate about home building and his gifts in this area will bless local families for generations to come. For Richard, there were no strangers. He loved making connections, attending community sporting events, especially those of his children and grandchildren, and was an avid participant in noon basketball at Goshen College.
The services will take place at Waterford Mennonite Church, with visitation hours on Friday, June 28 from 4-7 pm and Saturday, June 29 from 10-11 am. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.
