Richard H. Hoogenboom, 83, of Goshen, died early Friday morning, March 7, 2014, at Greencroft Healthcare Center, Goshen. He was born April 20, 1930 in Goshen to Dirk and Jenny (Berkman) Hoogenboom. He married Annabel Christner on November 8, 1952 in Goshen, Indiana. She survives. He is also survived by a son Tom (Patti) Hoogenboom of Goshen; three daughters, Joan Hoogenboom of Bloomington, Linda Wulff of San Diego, California and Sue Graff of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Nel Hoogenboom of Goshen; and a brother, Dr. Bernard (Louise) Hoogenboom of St. Peter, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by a brother James (Betty) Hoogenboom and a sister, Kate (Jack) Higgins. A 1948 graduate of Coldwater High School, Coldwater, Michigan, Mr. Hoogenboom served in the Navy for three years and the Active Reserves for five years. He retired from NIPSCO in 1990 after 33 years where he was a line supervisor. He was a member of The Greene Road Church and enjoyed traveling, golf, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014 Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. An 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014 a memorial service will be held at The Greene Road Church in Goshen. Rev. Dave VanDerWiele and Rev. Jim Hoogenboom, nephew of the deceased, will officiate. According to Mr. Hoogenboom's wishes he will be cremated with a private burial at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Greene Road Church.
