Richard Lee Haberstich

Richard L. Haberstich, 88, of Goshen, died Saturday afternoon, May 3, 2014, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was born September 3, 1925 in Goshen to Gustave and Gertrude M. (North) Haberstich. He married Donnabelle "Donna" Lantz Aug. 13, 1950 in Syracuse. She died April 5, 2011. He is survived by a daughter, Connie (Marvin) Chupp of Millersburg; two sons, Bruce (Vicky) and Curt (Debbra) Haberstich, both of Goshen; six grandchildren; and a sister, Betty J. Zentz of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and infant daughter, Wanda Haberstich. A 1943 graduate of Goshen High School, served with the U.S. Army. He worked as a postman for 29 years. He was a member of the New Paris Church of the Brethren, the Goshen Masonic Lodge, Maplecrest Country Club and Timber Ridge Golf Course. A pilot, he enjoyed flying his own plane and motorcycle riding. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Stan Godfrey will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made New Paris Church of the Brethren.
