Richard L. Guthrie

May 30, 1938 — April 11, 2016

Richard L. Guthrie, 77, of Goshen died Monday evening, April 11, 2016 at IU Health Goshen Hospital following an extended illness.


He was born May 30, 1938 in North Manchester to Wade and Ethel (Binkerd) Guthrie.


On November 24, 1963 he married Sharon M. Kehr at Goshen City Church of the Brethren, Goshen.


She survives along with two daughters, Kimberly (Richard) Hostetler of Goshen and Elizabeth (Alan) Belschner of Hoagland; three grandchildren, Kayla, Jared and Jakob Hostetler; and a great grandson, Chase Raley.


Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda Shearer, Vera Stuckey and Betty Clark; and three brothers, Dallas, Dale and Don Guthrie.


Mr. Guthrie was a 1957 graduate of Central High School in North Manchester.  He worked as a machinist for International Harvester, Ft. Wayne for 19 years before working at Coleman Camper Service doing repair work.  He also served as a West Goshen Elementary School crossing guard after retirement.


A member of the Community Church of Waterford, Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed flying.


Friends may call Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 funeral service will be held.  Pastor Chris Russell will officiate.


Cremation will follow the service.


Memorial gifts may be directed to Kids Alive or Community Church of Waterford, for the children, youth and family area.
