Richard Elliott, 69, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Goshen, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at his home after a ten year battle with cancer. He was born February 11, 1942 in Goshen to the late Herman Elliott and Wanda (Bull) Alwine of Goshen. He married Diana Spurlock on November 30, 2010, in Dallas. She survives. Also surviving are a son Larry Elliott of Fruitland Park, Florida; a foster son, Thomas Bear of Derry, New Hampshire; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane (Michael) Crabille and Victoria (Edward) Diamond, both of Goshen; and a brother, Robert Elliott of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his father; his step father, James Alwine, and a daughter, Connie Blodgett. Mr. Elliott worked in the legal department of Silver Lake Resorts, Dallas, Texas until he retired Oct. 15, 2009. He volunteered for Ballard Children's Foundation, Make a Wish Foundation, Cancer Society of Dallas and Presbyterian Hospital Red Coats. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, August 26, at the funeral home. A 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Scott of LifePoint Church officiating. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery. Memorials may be given to LifePoint Church or the American Cancer Society.
