Richard "Dick" D. Sleppy

May 16, 1931 — April 18, 2015

Richard D. Sleppy, 83, passed away Saturday morning, April 18, 2015 at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He was born in Goshen on May 16, 1931 to Leland and Mary (Stutzman) Sleppy. On May 26, 1957 he married Jane E. Myers in Goshen. She died Dec. 30, 2013. Survivors include a daughter, Jill (Larry) Martin of Goshen; three sons, Dale Sleppy of Goshen, Jaye (Cynthia) Sleppy of Shipshewana and Mark (Lisa) Sleppy of Marysville, Washington; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Dean Sleppy and a sister, Betty Miller. A 1950 graduate of Jefferson High School, Dick served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951-53. He was a member of the American Legion, the D.A.V. and the V.F.W., all of Goshen. He worked as a mechanic at Eby Ford for 37 years until retiring in 1993. Friends may call on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Home Care and Hospice or Goshen V.F.W. A graveside service will be held at Violett Cemetery on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 2:30 p.m.
