Richard E. Bewyer                                                                                           Richard E. Bewyer, 95, of Goshen, died early Monday morning, February 18, 2008, at his daughter’s home. He was born in Newton, Iowa, on December 27, 1912, to Everett and Emma (Summers) Bewyer.  He married Betty Bennett on September 30, 1939 in Winterset, Iowa. She preceded him on July 8, 2001. A Goshen resident since the early 1940’s, Mr. Bewyer was a welder for Elkhart Bridge and Iron retiring in 1977. A graduate of Newton High School in Iowa, he served in World War II from 1943 to 1946 with the US Army. He earned the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, the Brown Star Good Conduct Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award and a WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Bewyer is survived by a daughter, Beverly A. Call of Goshen; a son, Robert W. Bewyer from Florida; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Robert Bewyer and two infant sisters. There will be no visitation. An 11:00 a.m. graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.  Family and friends will meet at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m., to go in procession to the cemetery.  Pastor Steve Slagel of the East Goshen Mennonite Church will officiate.
