Rhonda Federonick, 54, of Elkhart, died early Friday morning, December 10, 2010, at her home after a two year battle with cancer. She was born in Goshen on February 23, 1956 to the late Harold D. and Helen (Cripe) Berkey. She is survived by five daughters, Mary Ann Federonick of Elkhart, Mindy Federonick of West Lafayette, and Elisabeth, Dawn and Kara Federonick, all at home; two sisters, Diane (Phil) Self of Goshen and Gail (Beng) Ong of Leo; three brothers, Philip (Barbara) Berkey of Goshen, Gary (Leticia) Berkey of Goodyear, Arizona, and Donald (Juanita) Berkey of Gadsden, Alabama; and her former husband, John Federonick. A Goshen High School graduate, Ms. Federonick received an associate degree in early childhood education from Manchester College. She was a member of Voice Ministries, Elkhart. She was active in her church and a women’s Bible study. She worked as a custodian at Goshen Middle School for more than 15 years. The family expresses gratitude to Goshen Middle School and its staff for all the support given through Rhonda’s illness. Friends may call 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, December 12, at the funeral home. A 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Elkhart.
