Reynold Sawatzky

Reynold Sawatzky, 94, of Goshen, died Monday, April 1, 2019, at Greencroft Healthcare.

He was born November 27, 1924, in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Jacob F and Cornelia Klassen Sawatzky.

On August 4, 1953 he married Maurine Bauer at Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church, East Peoria, Illinois.  She died May 22, 2013.

Survivors include two daughters, Renee M. Sawatzky of Ithaca, New York and Nila R. Sawatzky of Goshen.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine siblings, Annie Deckert, Katherine Schultz, Harry, Victor, Benjamin and Gordon Sawatzky, Jack Scott, Matilda Sawatzky and infant, Leonard Sawatzky.

Mr. Sawatzky taught school at various different levels, including Hesston College.  He was a methods analyst for Social Security until his retirement in 1982.

Following retirement, Mr. Sawatzky moved to the Goshen area.  He was a member of College Mennonite Church.

Burial in Violett Cemetery will be Tuesday, April 9, 2019, followed by visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service at College Mennonite Church.

Memorials may be given to College Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee.
