Dr. Rev. David Lee D'Arcy

Dr. Reverend David L. D’Arcy of Elkhart, Indiana died at the age of 76 on Saturday, November 17, 2018.  He was born in Cass City, Michigan on Oct. 14, 1942 to Lee W. and Phyllis (Hilborn) D’Arcy of Marlette, Michigan.  It was within this Marlette community where he learned the fine arts of both farming and music-making.  He accepted Christ during his growing up years attending Lamotte Missionary Church and Brown City Missionary Church Camp.

At the young of age of 16, David entered the collegiate realm at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana.  It was here where he eventually met and upon graduation married Becky Stump.  Together they launched into ministry at Gospel Center Missionary Church, the first church of many where they would serve.  This is also where the Gospel 4 Quartet was formed.  They continued together for 50 years of ministry.

David went on to achieve a Master’s degree from Boston University School of Theology followed by a Doctoral Degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary.

He will be remembered as a beloved pastor by those at Gospel Center Missionary Church of South Bend, Indiana; Community Congregational Church of Lathrup Village, Michigan; First Congregational Church of Eaton Rapids, Michigan; Beulah Missionary Church of Elkhart, Indiana and Community Congregational Church of South Bend, Indiana.

David was an active community leader participating over the years in Concord Rotary, Northern Indiana 2 Cylinder Club, Ministerial Associations, Presidential Prayer Team and the Gospel 4 Quartet.  His hobbies included restoring Mustangs, John Deere Tractors and Equipment, reading, off road motorcycling and serving in retirement on the praise team at Goshen Evangelical Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Becky (Stump) D’Arcy and his parents Lee and Phyllis (Hilborn) D’Arcy.  Those left to honor his memory are his mom for nearly 70 years, Betty D’Arcy Caudell;  second wife, Joyce (Alwine) Holden Springer D’Arcy, whom he married June 27, 1998 and was his caregiver for many years following multiple strokes; children, Carmen (Bill) D’Arcy Stanczykiewicz, Zionsville, Indiana, Kevin (Sharlyn) D’Arcy Goshen, Indiana; step-daughters, Anita Holden, Lilburn, Georgia, Jane Taylor, Goshen, Indiana; step-son, Ron (Tina) Holden, Jr., Corsicana, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are his siblings, Paul (Karina) D’Arcy of Carpenteria, California, Kaye L. (Bob) Sims of Flint, Michigan and Richard (Beverly) D’Arcy of Kingston, Michigan.

Visitation will take place at Hubbard Hill Estates, 28070 County Road 24, Elkhart, Indiana, Friday November 23, 2018 from 1:00-3:15 pm followed by a celebration and home-going service honoring a life well-lived at 3:30pm.  Retired Missionary Church pastors Rev. Stephen Stump and Rev. Ron Phipps will be officiating.

Friends and family will meet Saturday morning, November24, 2018 at 10:00am for a burial at Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen, Indiana
