Reginald B.”Reg” Blackmer, 85 of New Paris died Friday, April 24, 2026 at his home surrounded by family of natural causes.
He was born June 15, 1940 in Whiting, Vermont to Harry and Chastina (Ferson) Blackmer.
On June 3, 1960 he married Charlotte Ayer in Brandon, Vermont. She survives along with daughters Marsha (DeWayne) Patrick of Topeka and Pamela (Dan) Vines of New Paris; three grandchildren, Daniel (Felicia) Patrick, James (Sara) Patrick and Cody (Ally) Scoles; and six great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Marian Morse and his twin Beatrice Wilson and brothers, Gordon and Donald Blackmer.
Mr. Blackmer served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967. He worked as a press operator for several media companies including The Standard Register, World Missionary Press and The Paper.
Reg and Charlotte were honored with the “Distinguished Service Award” from the Church of the Nazarene in 1998.
Reg loved his family and was an active member of the New Paris Church of the Nazarene, where he formerly served on the church board as church treasurer and assisted as organist during worship.
Services will be held at the church, 67136 State Road 15, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, with visitation beginning at 12 p.m. prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service. Pastor Bryon Smith will officiate.
Burial with military honors will follow at Baintertown Cemetery, New Paris. Following burial all are invited back to the church for dinner.
