Rebecca B. Saal

Rebecca B. Saal, 84, of Goshen, died Sunday evening, June 8, 2008, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.  She was born in Goshen on October 26, 1923 to Peter R. and Gladys M. (Place) White.  She married Lewis R. Saal on January 23, 1942, in Goshen.  He preceded her in death on December 1, 1994. A homemaker, Mrs. Saal attended Zion Community Church.  She last worked at Goshen General Hospital as a transcriber and prior to that at the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department as a matron.  She volunteered for Meals on Wheels.  She enjoyed playing euchre, fishing, and crocheting. She is survived by two sons, Phillip (Jan) Saal of San Diego, California and Randall (Bobi) Saal of St. Simons Island, Georgia; a daughter, Kathy (Dean) Rink of Millersburg; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis and a brother, Dr. George White in 1999. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A Wednesday, June 11, 2008, funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  Pastor Bob Doane of the Zion Community Church in Millersburg will officiate. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Community Church, Millersburg.
