Rebecca, known to many as Becky, passed away on Thursday March 6, 2025, at the Center for Hospice Care surrounded by her family.  She was born on December 16, 1946, in Goshen, Indiana to Richard W. and Gertrude “Boodie” Mehl.  She married Thomas M. Leatherman on July 3, 1964 in Goshen.

Becky attended Goshen High school, graduated from Muncie Central and continued her education at Ball State University where she excelled in art classes.

Becky spent the majority of her life as a devoted mom to her four children.  She was a former member of Maplecrest Country Club and the Alpha Eta Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority where she enjoyed serving on the scholarship committee.  She became a certified paralegal and assisted Tom on selected cases…the ones she selected.  She loved interior design and decorating.  She established and operated an interior design business called Elegant Interiors on Johnson Street in Elkhart.

She was a beach lover and enjoyed spending time on “her beach” at their winter home on Ft. Myers Beach, Florida.  Summertime would find her at their Baldwin Lake Cottage swimming, relaxing and working on her flowers and tan.  She grew up participating in water skiing performances on Eagle Lake and continued her love of lake life by teaching children how to swim, water ski and catch turtles.

She loved to travel, learn and read.  She also loved animals, especially her Cavalier King Charles spaniel named “Rosie”.

In 2003, Becky was diagnosed with, and battled, multiple sclerosis for her remaining years.

She was a beloved “Nana” to her 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Becky is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tom, and daughters Bridget (Phil) Miller, Dr. Amy (Pete) Holland and Tricia Leatherman.  She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, Gregory Allen Leatherman.

Visitation will be Monday, March 10, from 12 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Celebration of Life at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
