Raymond Gingerich

January 16, 1920 — March 15, 2008

Raymond Gingerich, 88, of Goshen, died early Saturday morning, March 15, 2008, at his home.  He had been ill about a week. He was born in Rollett, North Dakota, on January 16, 1920, to Noah and Sarah (Graber) Gingerich.  He married Edna E. Troyer on April 7, 1946 in Middlebury.  She survives. A dairy farmer, Mr. Gingerich has lived in Goshen since 1940.  He was a member of the Mount Joy Mennonite Church where he taught Sunday School.  He was a member of CAM Mutual Aid Board for 20 years and was involved with Choice Books for 20 years.  He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Edna; four daughters, Eloise Gingerich of Akron, Ohio, Shirley (Donald) Nunemaker of Wakarusa, Beverly (Clarence) Sutton of Maricopa, Arizona, and Mary Jo (Bruce) Reitz of Goshen; three sons, Wayne (Joan) Gingerich of Hudson, Ronald (Kathy) Gingerich of Wolcottville, and Gene (Kim) Gingerich of Goshen; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Beulah (Daniel) Cross and Esther Stutzman, both of Goshen, Elnora Miller of Clayhole, Kentucky, and Dorothy (Orlo) Fisher of Talcum, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kari Nunemaker and two brothers, Jacob and Elmer Gingerich. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m, Tuesday, March 18 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Mount Joy Mennonite Church. A 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2008, funeral service will be conducted at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, Goshen.  Rev. Ben Shirk and Rev. Nelson Yoder, both of the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Joy Mennonite Church or Gideon International.
