Raymond D. Baker, 93, of Goshen died early Thursday morning, July 8, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital where he had been a patient for ten days. He was born June 26, 1917, to Oliver and Bertha (Baker) Baker in Millersburg. He married Orpha Kauffman on October 5, 1940. She died February 3, 1994. He is survived by a son, Gregg Baker of Creedmoor, North Carolina and a sister, Margaret Conrad, Goshen. Preceding him in death was a sister, Doris Thomas and a brother, Otis Baker. A 1935 graduate of Millersburg High School, he attended Fort Wayne International Business College for two years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a finance officer. Mr. Baker worked as an accountant for Welsh Buick and Fidler Ready Mix. A former member of Burr Oak Church he attended Sugar Grove Church. Friends may call 2 to 5 pm Sunday, July 11, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2010, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Barfell, Mr. Baker’s nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Millersburg. Memorials may be made to Goshen Hospital and Healthcare Foundation.
