Ralph “Fred” Fisher, 56, of Goshen, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at his home of natural causes due to illness associated with chronic kidney disease. He was born on September 27, 1954, to Ralph Lowell and Beverly Fisher in Goshen. He was a 1973 graduate of Fairfield High School, where he played basketball and ran cross country. He was a member of Rock Run Church of the Brethren. He was a business man, owning and operating several of his own companies throughout his years. He married Ramona (Dubbs) Searfoss on June 11, 1994, uniting their two families. Fred was an active member and administrator of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Goshen Lodge 836, and the treasurer of the Tippecanoe Legion 96. He was also a member of the Moose 125 Club and top signer in the nation of new members for the Moose Legionnaires. He strived to do great things for the Moose International Organization, and because of his efforts was scheduled to receive the Moose Fellowship Degree in July 2011. He was also a member of the Goshen Fraternal Order of Eagles 1526. He is survived by his wife, Ramona; a son; and daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Ponko, Fort Wayne, Jillian (David) May, Brenna (Shawn) Sherman, and Shaunna Searfoss, all of Goshen. Also surviving are three grandsons and six granddaughters, Daphne and Natalie May, Kyla and Kendra Sherman, and Cadence and Trinity Medina. He was proud and excited to welcome a baby Ponko in September. Also surviving are his mother, Beverly (Bill) Yoder, and his in-laws, Larry and Trudy Dubbs, Goshen; and his four siblings and their families. Fred’s wish was to be cremated and laid to rest near his father in Baintertown Cemetery. In celebration of his life, the family is having an open house at the Goshen Moose Lodge 836-388 Johnston Street, Goshen, 46528, on Thursday, April 14, 2011, from 2 to 6 p.m., with a short ceremony at 4 p.m. Flowers and memorials may be sent to the same location. Any memorials will be dedicated in Fred’s name to charities associated with the Moose, such as Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting with funeral arrangements.
