Ralph D. Collins, 80, of Goshen, died Wednesday afternoon, September 10, 2014, at I.U. Health Goshen Hospital. He had been ill the past year. He was born December 9, 1933 in Ellijay, Georgia to Ralph R. and Hazel A. (Parks) Collins. He married Velma Mitchell September 4, 1959 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She survives along with his mother, Hazel Collins of Screven, Georgia; two daughters, Valissa "Lisa" (Mike) Zigler of Hagerstown and Wendy (Jeff) Myers of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Joshua (Brook), Jon (Jessica) and Aaron (Miranda) Zigler and Denise E. Myers; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry P. (Charlotte) Collins of Jesup, Georgia . He was preceded in death by his father. A Goshen resident since 2001, Mr. Collins worked as a cost analyst for the Department of Defense from 1986 to 2001. He served with the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Goshen and the Goshen Sunrise Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed singing and belonged to several church choirs over the course of his life. He also enjoyed flower gardening. Friends may call Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastor Susan Martin, St. Mark's United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Violett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
