Rachel G. Phillips, 91, of Goshen, died Saturday evening, December 2, 2006. She was born in Goshen, Indiana, on August 2, 1915, to Lloyd and Mamie (Lohrei) Hartsough. She married Paul A. Phillips on March 15, 1936 in Goshen. He died June 28, 1996. A life long resident of Goshen, Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and was actively involved in organic farming with her husband, Paul. She had also worked several years at Goshen Credit Bureau. A member of the Rock Run Church of the Brethren where she was involved with Women’s Work, Mrs. Phillips volunteered with Heifer Project International. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and family. She is survived by her children, Janet (Skip) Scribner of Goshen; John (Kandi) Phillips of Cabool, Missouri; Betty (Andy) Butterbaugh of North Manchester, Indiana; Eugene (Janet) Phillips of Goshen; Joseph (Jill) Phillips of Indianapolis and Barbra (Larry) Sheets of Syracuse. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; a son, Druly Phillips; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Livengood and three brothers, Ernest, Fred and Richard Hartsough. Friends will be received 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 5 and 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Waits of the Rock Run Church of the Brethren will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be designated for Heifer Project International or Rock Run Church of the Brethren.
