Rachel M. Miller

March 26, 1921 — April 25, 2011

Rachel M. Miller, 90, of Goshen, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at her home after a two month illness. She was born March 26, 1921, in Middlebury, to the late Menno and Libbie (Rhinesmith) Keim.  She married M. Dwight Miller on November 4, 1950 at Forks Mennonite Church, Middlebury.  He died March 24, 2011. She is survived by four children, David (Sharon) Miller and Karen (Wes) Higginbotham, both of Goshen, Kathy (Ron) White of South Bend, and Curtis Miller of LaGrange; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Keim and Martha Keim, both of Goshen, and Mary (Willis) Miller of Pine Bluff, Arizona; and a brother, Dan (Bette) Keim of Goshen. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Hochstetler and Miriam Miller; and five brothers, Wilbur, Walter, Marvin, Ira and Paul Keim. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Miller retired in 1986 from Goshen High School Cafeteria after 13 years.  A member of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church, she was a woman of service, volunteering seven years with hospice and more than 20 years with Ten Thousand Villages and The Window. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.  An 11a.m. memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church with Pastors Jane Buller and Randy Miller officiating. There will be a private family burial at Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
