He was born May 11, 1933 in Clay County, West Virginia to W. Herbert and Fonda (Blake) King.
He married Sara Rebecca Ulery of Middlebury on August 8, 1959. She died in 2002. He later married Dorothy Plummer in 2003. She also preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca (Lee) King Cerling of Pasadena, California; a son, Mark (Tina) King of West Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren: Jonah, Jadon, and Tavis (Mark), Ella and Brendan (Rebecca); and two brothers, Keith King, Lizemores of West Virginia, and Kent King of Ivydale, West Virginia.
Mr. King received degrees from Marshall University, Huntington, WV; the University of Toledo, Toledo, OH; and Indiana University, Fort Wayne. He taught mathematics at Tri-State College, St. Francis College, Potomac State College of West Virginia, and finished his career teaching at Bethel College in Mishawaka.
He was active in both Gideons International and Kiwanis International. For many years, he volunteered at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen. His great love was for music, and he played the piano and organ faithfully at nursing homes and churches throughout his life. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Goshen.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Yoder- Culp Funeral Home and 30 minutes prior to the 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 funeral service at Faith Lutheran Church, 5th & Madison St., Goshen. Rev. John Hickey will officiate.
Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Kreig’s memory be sent to Gideons International.
