R. Robert Gingerich, 76, died Saturday night, October 24, 2009, at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen. He was born in Kouts, Indiana, on January 22, 1933, to the late Ed and Mary (Owen) Gingerich. He married Jennette Ann Miller on November 1, 1958, in New Paris, Indiana. She preceded him in death on June 12, 1994. He then married Patricia Stanley on November 4, 1995, in Goshen, she survives. Mr. Gingerich moved from Valporaiso, Indiana in 1977 to Sarasota, Florida. He worked as a Home Designer Draftsman, a financial advisor, and he retired in 1995 as a Carpenter for Ownings Construction Company, in Sarasota. He graduated in 1951 from Valporaiso High School, and from Tri-State University, Angola, Indiana, in 1956. He served in the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. Mr. Gingerich was a caretaker for his wife and son, who both had muscular dystrophy for many years. He served as an Elder at the Sarasota Christian Church for about 30 years, and he enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his daughter, Jodie Ann (Bobby) LaMarre, Sarasota, Florida; his step-daughter, Terri Lazarus, Bristol, Indiana; his step-son, Rev. Douglas (Kim) Beutler, Fort Wayne, Indiana; and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Craig R. Gingerich; and two brothers, Owen and Kenneth Gingerich. Family and friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday October 27, 2009, at the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen. A 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, memorial service will be conducted at the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen. Rev. Bill Richardson will officiate. Funeral services will be held at a later date at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home, Sarasota, Florida. Burial will follow at Bushnell, Florida National Cemetery.
