Maxine Dubbs, 88, of Goshen, died Friday, July 10, 2020, at Golden Living Center where she had been nine days. She had been in failing health three years.
She was born November 17, 1931 in Topeka. She grew up on the farm she loved with her parents, E. Walter and Lela Riedel and brother, Vernon.
On June 9, 1973 she married Richard L. Dubbs in Topeka. He died June 7, 2014.
Maxine is survived by three children, Dan Henderson of Blue Ridge, Virginia, Robyn (Dick) Buenger of Goshen and Jon (Ana) Henderson of Tucson, Arizona; step-children, Cindy (Mike) Fodor and Cheryl (Larry) Callan; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Phillip Henderson and Richard Dubbs; a granddaughter, Gayte Buenger and a brother, Vernon Riedel.
She worked at Penn Controls and Ace Hardware, Goshen.
Maxine was a faithful member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where she helped organize many funeral dinners, swiss steak suppers, communion and hand made many of the banners still hanging in the church.
She was a member of Swinging Hoosier Squares, and volunteered at Goshen Hospital as a Red Coat and helped install their lifelines. Maxine spent many summers helping on mission trips for the church; traveling the country on motorcycle visiting friends and family and enjoying the national parks.
Family and friends will meet Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 10 a.m. for a graveside service at Eden Cemetery, Topeka. Father Kevin Bauman will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
